Diana Comber - Partner, Private Banking

I work as a private banker in the BNZ Tower in Auckland. I've been with the bank for 20 years.
Before BNZ I worked for a couple of large New Zealand finance companies, and before that I worked in travel and broadcasting.

When I applied for my first BNZ role I was looking for a job as an investment adviser at a time when the industry was in its infancy. The Bank was setting up BNZ Investment Advisory Services at the time and the role sounded perfect for me. I'm better off here because BNZ is a great company to work for, and because I feel we have the best Private Bank in New Zealand.



 

What you'll do

You'll closely manage and develop a portfolio of high value customers qualifying for "Private" relationship management. You'll work to achieve sales income/fee generation targets by satisfying the complex needs of customers for highly tailored and personalised products and services.

A typical day for a Partner, Private Banking

There's no such thing! But any given day could see me:

  • Visiting BNZ stores or Business Banking Centres to educate other bankers on how we can help their customers
  • Meeting potential Private Bank clients who have been referred to me by either current clients or bankers
  • Communicating with my client base about their banking, investment and lending requirements
  • Attending presentations and reading research on the markets, and the products that we promote to our clients
  • Working with the portfolio managers to produce financial plans and portfolio reviews
  • Meeting with clients to present their latest portfolio review and to carry out the regular financial review
  • Promoting products and services to my client base, e.g. new bond issues
  • Contacting clients about corporate actions taking place in their portfolio
  • Working with the portfolio managers, my Private Bank Executive, Investment Administration and Treasury in order to provide
    a high level of service to our clients
